I'm part of the Debt Capital Markets team within our Banking division – a specialist team that focuses on originating and executing cross-border financing transactions, such as international bonds from Japanese issuer clients. The work we do is fast-paced but there's also a strong emphasis on developing long-term client relationships.

In light of the increasingly globalised economy, financing through international capital markets has become a strategically important challenge for Japanese companies. To achieve their potential, they need a banking partner who understands both the markets and their own commercial objectives.

Global politics, monetary policy, economic situations and changing regulations. There are so many factors that influence international capital markets. By keeping track of them all and evaluating their potential impact on our clients' plans, we're able to provide them with the best possible funding strategy.

Barclays on the whole is a fast-growing business, so when you join as a graduate you can expect outstanding career development opportunities. The level of responsibility you're given at such an early stage, and the friendly, non-hierarchical nature of the organisation combine to create an environment where you can learn and progress at a tremendous rate.
