Why Technology at Barclays?

Join us and you’ll propel your technology career in a place behind numerous world firsts.

These include the world’s first ATM, the first use of finger-vein recognition software for bank customers in the UK and our award-winning trading system BARX, which was the first platform to offer precision pricing. We were also the first major UK bank to create talking ATMs for blind and visually impaired customers.

So why are the big banking breakthroughs down to us? Our CEO Jes Staley says: “Barclays is a technology company with a balance sheet”. It’s why we invest so heavily in technology – and why we’ll invest so heavily in you. Giving you the skills to deploy – or project manage – the most advanced tech across AI, big data, machine learning, real-time programming, cyber and dev/ops to power the futuristic bank.

World-leading Technology training

Our new training program is as innovative as our technology. You’ll dive straight in with a high-octane, cyber-attack simulation where you’ll pit your wits against your peers.

You’ll then learn through hackathons, virtual spaces and 6,000 on-demand courses. You’ll have the opportunity to gain Cloud accreditation, with coaching to help you to fast-track your career..

Let's create the future together

Software Developers. Business Analysts. Application Management. Systems Architecture. Whichever role you choose, you could help create the future of technology, from apps and infrastructure to software and systems. Or you could be part of our team pioneering a proactive, intelligence-led approach to cyber security. We were the first financial institution to help cyber experts at Interpol, so with us you’d be at the cutting edge, helping to keep customers, clients and colleagues safe.

How do you apply?

Apply through this website and we’ll assess your behavioural and technical skills via our online platform. We might then invite you to present a case study and you could get a final interview at our offices with business assessors. If you make it through this last stage, congratulations: you could be unleashing The Next Reality soon.

Our Technology opportunities

Whether it’s as a Spring Analyst, a Summer Analyst or a Full-time Analyst, we offer a wide range of opportunities. Each offers two distinct pathways.
