Combine a city and military career
At Barclays, we’re passionate about supporting students who wish to develop both civilian and military careers. That’s why we’ve created an innovative entry route for graduates who are planning to become reservists.
If you’ve passed the Army Officer Selection board, you don't need to apply for our programmes in the normal way. You can fast-track straight to the final interview round. Impress us there and you’ll receive all kinds of tailored benefits once you’re in the business.
Military reservist opportunities
We appreciate that becoming a military reservist is a significant commitment. We also know you’ll want to focus on making a strong start to your career outside the armed services. Our support will ensure you’re comfortably able to balance the two.
Take on one of our graduate opportunities and, on top of your normal holiday allowance, you’ll be entitled to an extra 10 working days’ paid leave per year for reservist training. Should you be mobilised, we’ll continue to pay your salary, and will conduct pay reviews and performance bonuses as normal. If you return to us within six months of demobilisation, your previous role will be waiting for you. If you return longer than six months after demobilisation, we’ll do all we can to find a similar role at the same grade.
Put simply, we will make sure you’re free to give your all – whether it’s with us here, or while on military service.
Deciding what to do after university is difficult, particularly if you’re caught between a military or civilian career. Too many graduates think it needs to be an either/or choice, but this new initiative enables you to have the best of both worlds. You also get to build some invaluable transferable skills.
