If you work hard, if you prove that you’re passionate about what you’re doing, people are definitely able to see the pressure you’re going through – and they reward it.
I joined Barclays 18 months ago and I work in the Equity Derivatives Structuring team. Since the beginning, I’ve been part of the buddy programme, which gives you the opportunity to have a contact within the bank before starting. This gives you someone to turn to if you have any kind of question, or doubt, or just want to have a chat.
You can clearly see the technology push at
Barclays, and it’s not just in terms of investment banking. It means that on a
bigger project, on a bigger scale, you can see long-term changes going through
and being pushed by higher management. But that doesn’t exclude the fact that,
on a day-to-day basis, you can push for innovation as well.
