Going the extra mile? We take it a step further. With our Learning and Development programme, we’ll give you the tools you need to take your curiosity, passion and career further. It’s time to challenge what you know, disrupt the everyday and strive to find a better way. Do that for us and we’ll do the same for you.

Your learning journey? Let's modernise it

Your future depends on continuous learning and development. But with our ever-changing digital world, your way of learning needs to change with it. So it’s time to challenge tradition and focus more on experiences, connections and opportunities. With our continuously evolving Graduate Development programme, we’re moving away from formal classroom environments and encouraging innovative thinking through social and experiential atmospheres. Simply put, we’re making your learning more focused around you.

Our overall programme framework

Our programme structure is tied to how we train leaders across Barclays – as well as being shaped by junior talent feedback from our annual Happiness Index survey. It means you get exactly the right training to become a future leader, and you stay happy and supported in the process.

Learning Groups

Your development journey will be designed and structured around the following Learning Groups:

Understanding financial markets

Having a good understanding of financial markets is important for getting to know our business. During the graduate programme, we’ll make sure you’re aware of financial concepts and are able to see how they apply to us as a business and to our customers.

Gaining business skills

Having key business skills will help you be more effective, allowing you to find smarter solutions faster. Where required, these skills include Microsoft Office and other key systems and applications training.

Your professional skillset

For many of you this may be your first integration in working for a large organisation, so with our training we want to set you up for success. With our professional skills training, you’ll have the basics covered.

Regulatory qualifications

Those in a regulated role will complete required regulatory qualifications, ensuring you are up to speed with the complex regulatory frameworks within which we operate.

Professional qualifications

On many of our programmes we’ll support you in attaining a relevant professional qualification for your chosen field of work.

Our policies, processes and values

In keeping with our organisational values, we’ll ensure you are fully trained and aware of the key risk and control policies and processes that govern your role. This includes guiding you on where to go for more information.

Role-specific technical skills

Each role in our business requires you to have different technical skills. You’ll build these skills throughout the programme, with most of your development being supported by your line manager and through role-specific training.

Finding your career path

Your dedicated career coach will work closely with you to understand your career ambitions. Through feedback sessions and the use of career planning tools, they’ll support you at every step of your journey with us.

Inspiring leaders? Become one. Everyone can lead. It‘s not about titles and grades. It’s about people who have the ability to inspire others to achieve results. With our four leadership capabilities – Innovate, Inspire, Achieve and Sustain – you’ll be on your way to great leadership, helping others realise their potential too.
