Technology

Why build a career in Technology in our global business? Because this is where some of the industry’s biggest innovations were born – and you could create the next.

Join us and work alongside industry experts who are behind major leaps in FinTech. You’ll be following our innovative learning programme which includes on-the-job training and valuable hands-on experience. And you’ll have the chance to gain a recognised Apprenticeship Qualification – fully-funded by us – anything up to and including a BSc in Technology.

That means you could earn a degree and also earn a salary. Sounds challenging? Don’t forget you’ve got support from a line manager, career coach and a technical buddy, as well as a network of peers. Wherever you’re based, you’ll find a highly collaborative community that’s full of new ideas.

Learn as an apprentice here at Barclays and we'll invest in you and your tech career. There are two routes available: Foundation (if you're at GCSE-level) and Higher (if you have A-levels or equivalent). The first will see you gain a formal level 3 qualification as you build your knowledge, working on real-life projects. The second will help you gain a degree as you learn and evolve your skills in an absorbing tech role.

Application process

The application process for our Foundation and Higher Apprenticeships is exactly the same. Here’s everything you need to know:

First up, there will be lots of opportunities for two-way communication. We want to make sure we're right for you, not just whether you're right for us. And if you have any questions along the way, there'll always be someone to help.

The application process has four stages:

  • You'll start by applying online
  • You'll then be invited to complete Business Insight 1 - a 35 to 40 minute exercise designed to show us your strengths in a fictitious business scenario
  • If successful, you'll be invited to Business Insight Stage 2. The fictitious scenario will continue and evolve, giving you the opportunity to respond to challenges in a number of ways, including by video
  • Then it's on to a face to face assessment centre. If shortlisted, you will attend and take part in team building activities, logic tests, and an interview on competency and values

If successful, you will then receive your offer. If not, we'll provide feedback during the initial stages of the process, and can also provide additional feedback after the assessment centre if requested.

All offers will be subject to you successfully completing our screening process.
