Able to Enable is our internship programme, run with leading diversity and inclusion experts. Set up specifically for those whose careers have been held back by the stigma that surrounds mental and physical health conditions, it offers a three-month internship, leading to a Higher Apprenticeship for those who want to continue with us and who have a successful internship. The scheme was launched to help more people with disabilities to get into work, by providing valuable work experience that could help people take a positive step onto a full-time apprenticeship with us.
The judges felt that the winner can act as a beacon holder for the whole sector and described the entry as ‘brave, courageous and scalable’. The submission clearly outlined company’s aims and objectives to support those with disabilities into the workplace by providing a personalised and inclusive recruitment approach and a supportive and integrated experience. The external partners and internal senior stakeholders were heavily engaged which added to the success.
