While the numbers are important, it is our employees who determine our success as a business. This is why our Human Resources (HR) team is so important. Joining them, you’ll provide advice, strategic insight and innovative solutions that influence every part of the organization, wherever we work.
What to expect
Five weeks of intensive training will give you the core knowledge to make a successful start. Then you’ll take on four six-month rotations in our New York office, experiencing a range of HR areas, further building your skills and getting to know our business and our people. On our HR Business Partner teams, you’ll support a specific business on day-to-day and wider strategic issues. As part of one of our Centers of Excellence, you’ll develop expertise in a specific HR function. Depending on your rotation assignment, you may:
- Help develop our graduate recruitment and training programs
- Investigate employee relations issues
- Analyze the impact of workforce changes
- Support colleagues through the promotion process
- Support the delivery of training for our managers
How you’ll develop
During your time in our graduate program, our formal and informal training will give you the knowledge you need when you need it.
First up is our Initial Training Program (ITP) – a cross-divisional classroom training program where you’ll learn financial markets fundamentals, as well as technical and professional skills. By the end, you’ll be equipped with everything you need to know about our firm, the markets we operate in, and how your role fits in.
Once you’ve spent a few months in your role, our Continuing Learning curriculum launches, unifying and refining the concepts that you’ve learned during ITP and the practical training you’ve completed with your team.
Our Program Management Team is committed to helping you achieve your goals at Barclays. Throughout the program you will receive career guidance, continuous performance coaching and feedback to keep you on track. Your managers and colleagues will be here to support you too.
When you complete the Graduate Program, you’ll have a number of options open to you, including placement into an exciting role right here at Barclays.
Who thrives here
Resourcefulness, teamwork mentality, enthusiasm and an entrepreneurial spirit are all important, often shown through participation in extracurricular activities. You should also have a keen interest in HR and the financial services sector.
