Barclays’ financial health is vital - to our clients, our shareholders, our stakeholders and absolutely everyone who works here. Working at the core of our business, you’ll learn how to apply intricate financial concepts to keep our global institution in good shape.
What to expect
You will start with four weeks of intensive training, after which you’ll join one of our New York-based Finance teams. The first five months with your team will be dedicated to learning the ins and outs of your role through on-the-job and classroom training. Then, at the six month mark, you’ll take on greater responsibility for tasks such as:
- Performing profit and loss analysis for key business units
- Creating reports and performance scorecards for senior managers
- Analyzing data to highlight trends and insights
- Writing and delivering presentations based on your analyses to senior managers
- Leading meetings with clients and stakeholders
How you’ll develop
During your time in our graduate program, our formal and informal training will give you the knowledge you need, when you need it.
First up is our Initial Training Program (ITP) - a cross-divisional classroom training program where you’ll learn financial markets fundamentals, as well as technical and professional skills. By the end, you’ll be equipped with everything you need to know about our firm, the markets we operate in, and how your role fits in.
Once you’ve spent a few months in your role, our Continuing Learning curriculum launches, unifying and refining the concepts that you’ve learned during ITP and the practical training you’ve completed with your team.
Our Program Management Team is committed to helping you achieve your goals at Barclays. Throughout the program you will receive career guidance, continuous performance coaching and feedback to keep you on track. Your managers and colleagues will be here to support you too.
When you complete the Graduate Program, you’ll have a number of options open to you, including placement into an exciting role right here at Barclays.
Who thrives here
We look for resourcefulness, teamwork mentality, enthusiasm and an entrepreneurial spirit, often shown through participation in extracurricular activities. A good basic knowledge of finance and financial markets is important. While not essential, it will also help if you have a major in Finance or Accounting.
